Home visitors show up for families every day. They build trust, offer guidance, and help caregivers give their children the best possible start. But who shows up for them?
Through a series of listening sessions, home visitors reviewed the findings from thousands of open-text home visitor national survey respondents. The findings captured how home visitors support families, what makes their work hard, and what they need to stay in their roles and thrive. Home visitors wanted to share these findings beyond the listening session. They requested a short, shareable resource describing both the role of home visiting and the field’s impact on families and communities. After multiple co-design sessions, home visitors helped create this infographic. The infographic outlines five workforce-identified solutions for building a strong, sustainable home visiting workforce:
- Fair recognition and compensation in line with the complexity of their work
- Well-being supports to address the real demands of the job
- Clear and accessible career pathways for growth and advancement
- Reduced administrative burdens so they can focus on families
- Elevated voices in the decisions affecting their work
These aren’t top-down recommendations. They are solutions identified by the people doing the work.
