Policy Academy Now Open: Focus Groups and Webinar to Inform the Field

The Institute for Home Visiting Workforce Development is launching our Policy Academy. The goal of this first Policy Academy is for home visitors and supervisors to develop and enhance their capacity and capability to educate leaders about key home visiting policy issues and participate in policy conversations that impact the workforce. The Policy Academy will not include any content on lobbying.

Following the webinar is a series of Focus Groups. Up to 20 home visitors and supervisors can participate in the focus group. If you are interested in joining this focus group, please complete this form.

The Institute for Home Visiting Workforce Development is launching our Policy Academy. The goal of the Policy Academy is for home visitors and supervisors to develop and enhance their capacity and capability to educate policy makers about key home visiting policy issues and participate in policy conversations that impact the workforce. The Policy Academy will not include any content or engagement on lobbying.

As part of the Policy Academy, we are excited to invite home visitors and supervisors to our first educational webinar. Please save the date for our webinar on Core Competencies for Policy Champions, on Thursday, September 17, from 3:00 – 4:30 PM EST. It will be offered in English with Spanish interpretation and is open to all.

The topic will be focused on Core Competencies for Policy Champions. Discussion topics may include:

  • Understanding key competencies that home visiting professionals bring to policy conversations
  • Storytelling skills for home visitors and field leaders
  • Supervisors’ role in empowering home visitors as program champions
  • Understanding permissible non-lobbying activities to educate and champion home visiting

 

After the webinar, please join us for the first scheduled focus groups, which will offer an opportunity for a small group of home visitors and supervisors to share feedback on professional development gaps and opportunities to strengthen the skills and knowledge of the home visiting field on policy issues.

  • 9/26 2:30 – 4pm EST (in Spanish)

 

This is an opportunity for home visitors and supervisors to directly inform and shape the creation of professional development content on policy issues impacting the home visiting field!

Up to 20 home visitors and supervisors can participate in the focus group. If you are interested in joining this focus group, please complete this form. If you are selected, you’ll receive additional information and registration details for the focus group. Participants will receive a $100 gift card as recognition for their time and contributions.
